Artist: Invader

In the late 1990s, an anonymous French artist known as Invader embarked on a unique artistic journey by affixing ceramic mosaic representations of Space Invaders, iconic characters from the 1978 video game, onto the streets of Paris. Over time, his repertoire expanded to include beloved 8-bit figures like Pac-Man ghosts, creating an artistic tapestry that now spans cities worldwide, from Los Angeles to Kathmandu. In addition to these covert street art installations, Invader has extended his creativity to mosaics on various surfaces like Perspex panel, plywood, and book covers.

Beyond his street art, he has ventured into paintings, drawings, and screen prints, all characterized by his distinctive pixelated style. Notably, his works have reached the six-figure mark on the secondary market, attesting to their cultural and artistic significance. A defining moment occurred in 2019 when astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti transported one of Invader’s mosaics to the International Space Station, elevating his art to new heights—approximately 248 miles above Earth.

Invader’s global presence extends to international exhibitions held in major cities like Los Angeles, Paris, Brussels, and Hong Kong, showcasing the widespread impact of his pixelated aesthetic.
